Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar, an American and British sitarist. She's the smallest woman and was the first person to be awarded an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shankar is one of the rising stars of India's sitar. She is the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. In her first years she split her time between London New Delhi. Her first performance took place in New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. In 1999, she completed her high school education within Encinitas CA. Anouskha still has a promising career in recording and performing even though she's young. Since a while, she performs regularly alongside her father. She released her debut self-titled album Anourag in the year 1998. She released the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year after. Since she's performed at every major stage in all over the globe, her career on stage is extensive. Anoushka isn't only a singer. Bapi: The love of My Live is her 2002 book, which was a tribute Ravi Shankar. She's also appeared in. in the 2003 movie Dance Like a Man, where she portrayed the role of a Bharat natyam dancing young girl. Anoushka Shankar's professional career is continuing to unfold and we can expect to see many things from her in the years to be. Anoushka is a native of England, but spent most of her childhood in between London as well as Delhi. She then moved to California and enrolled in high school. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday, Anoushka made her debut performing the sitar before the crowd of at the age of four, following her nine year old father. Her father traveled around the globe with her, and she was able to gain many new experience. As she was at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall during Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. In the end, The House of Commons Shield was presented an award by the British Parliament in recognition of being the top Asian Arts musician. She is the only woman and the youngest winner of the award.
